Overview: Ares looked at the competitive field and selected Advent’s Geneva, the world’s leading global portfolio management system. The firm cites four key reasons: Geneva’s bank debt functionality; ease of integration with other systems via Geneva Workflow Manager; a browser interface that enables users to obtain real-time data without having to request it of operations staff; and a “native understanding” of all the asset classes in which the firm invests. Ares also takes advantage of Geneva’s integrated general ledger and security functionality that allows for segregation of duties based on 16 different staff roles.
