Clairmail and VocaLink Partner for Mobile Payments

The companies are working together to bring real-time mobile payment products to banks across the U.K.

International payments provider VocaLink is partnering with Clairmail, a provider of mobile banking and payments solutions, to offer banks a number of real-time mobile banking products. The partnership will combine Clairmail's "smart client" mobile technology with VocaLink's real-time capabilities and allow the companies to offer P2P mobile payments, immediate payments and multichannel service options to banks and their customers.

VocaLink is the U.K.'s largest payments processing network, last year handling more than 9.3 billion payments and 3.5 billion card transactions. Now, Clairmail's mobile platform and application for iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices will be the mobile interface for U.K. banks that use the Vocalink payments infrastructure.

"As smartphone sales continue to soar and consumer demand for mobile banking increases, financial services organizations can no longer ignore the huge potential of the mobile channel when it comes to delivering a successful consumer payments strategy," said Marc Terry, VocaLink's managing director of global transaction services, in a news release. "Our partnership with Clairmail will enable banks to effectively deliver innovative banking solutions."
