ATMs Resume Working in Japan

Mizuho Bank has suffered system outages since the March 11 Japan earthquake, but ATMs seem to be up and running again.

In the midst of the massive destruction left in the wake of the Japan's massive earthquake and tsunami, there's one hopeful sign: ATMs are working again.

ATMs operated by Mizuho Bank, Japan's third-largest bank, suffered three days of intermittent system outages following the March 11 earthquake. According to the bank, the ATMs were not affected directly by the natural disaster, but rather by the surge of transactions following the event, totaling approximately $7.3 billion.

Today, the bank announced that all of its ATMs throughout Japan are working again.
