The incentives are strong and the internal budget/cost pressures are even stronger. So, yes, 2014 should be the year when firms start to make the shift to cloud.

With so much cost savings incentive it's only a matter of time before there's an industry standard solution. Too many people with a lot of money are asking for it, it would be surprising if this hurdle wasn't cleared in 2014.

I agree with the author's sentiment. Though financial services is a typically cautious industry, and there is some reluctance to move to the cloud, due to issues of security and data management, ultimately the cost savings and efficiency moving to the cloud can provide will prove too enticing.
