Indeed, mobile banking for corporates hasn't taken off on the consumer side, but increasingly people want to do business the way they conduct other life affairs, as Gifas notes, and will want to eventually conduct some treasury services functions on mobile.

It's worth noting that RBS Citizens' pursuit of mobile for corporate customers is not a jumping-on-the-bandwagon thing -- it has been a few years in the making. Jim Gifas spoke about the strategy a year-and-a-half ago at BS&T's Executive Summit. One of his points that I thought was very compelling was about mobile security. While acknowledging that it is a big issue that banks must master, he made a compelling case that many of the concerns so far about mobile banking security were proving to be overstated and in fact were serving as excuses for not investing in this channel. Now RBS Citizens has the first mover advantage.
