I think with the all of the news about the NSA spying and tech companies providing data to them that customers are going to increasingly demand that opt-in over how their data is used.

It's all about the opt-in; if a customer opts in, then they expect much of their personal data to be used by the company to market to them better.

Great ideas here, Mike. I really like your point "If you are not talking to your customers, someone else is" - that's so true, with people more active on mobile devices than ever. Companies should take advantage of their customers' high mobile activity to capture their attention at multiple points throughout the day.

Good article Mike. I think always-on is one of the defining characteristics of the mobile age. A customer who opts in for push notifications has said a lot about their relationship with your company in that they are willing to have their routine interrupted by your messaging (whatever that might be)
