John Bottega Joins Bank of America as Chief Data Officer

The former CDO for Citigroup and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York brings more than 25 years of experience in data management to Bank of America.

Bank of America has hired John Bottega to be the company's chief data officer (CDO). In this position, Bottega is responsible for the banks's data management strategy, policy and governance. He reports to Bank of America's CIO, Marc Gordon.

"John is a proven leader with an extensive background in data management and data quality," said Gordon in a release announcing the appointment. "Adding John to our team demonstrates the bank's continued focus and commitment in these critical areas."

Bottega brings to the bank more than 25 years of experience in data management and is currently the chairman of the board of directors for the Enterprise Data Management Council, an industry association focused on financial industry data. He comes to Bank of America from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he was the CDO of its markets division. Previously, he was the CDO at Citigroup's corporate and investment banking unit, and he has held various positions at other financial institutions, including Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers.
