JPMorgan is the latest in a line of banks, publishers, and other companies that private- label "software as a service" applications from Smart Online. Now small business customers of JPMorgan Case can research and write business plans, incorporate, prepare personnel policies, apply for loans, draft leases for office space and equipment, establish retirement plans, and more by selecting "business services" at the Chase small business Website.

According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), there are almost 28 million small businesses in the United States. These companies represent 99.7 percent of all employers, generated 60 percent to 80 percent of net new jobs annually over the last decade, and created more than 50 percent of the non-farm, private gross domestic product of the United States. Smart Online markets its Web-based services to banks, publishers, and other organizations that wish to enhance the premium products and services they offer to small business subscribers and customers.

Eventually, JPMorgan Chase customers will be given access to Smart Online's OneBiz Conductor, a dashboard suite of Web-based services that organizes and integrates sales inventory, accounting, human resources, shipping, collaboration, and other aspects of e-commerce. Introduced in February 2005, OneBiz Conductor is designed for owners and managers of companies with up to 500 employees

Other companies that have private-labeled the Smart Online business services include Union Bank of California, Bank One, Inc. Magazine, FastCompany Magazine, and BusinessWeek Magazine.
