Huntington Bank Appoints Steve George Technology Shared Services Director

George formerly led retail architecture at JPMorgan Chase.

Huntington Bank, Columbus, Ohio ($52 billion in assets), has named Steve George, a 19-year banking veteran, as technology shared services director. George is responsible for establishing a shared services model that can support growth and create better alignment between business segments and the company's strategic goals. He is also responsible for all software and systems development, support and maintenance for the company. George reports to Zahid Afzal, executive vice president, technology and operations.

"Steve is an important addition to the Huntington team as we grow the company," said Afzal in a statement. "His experience developing and supporting banking applications and architecture will be a major asset in our continued mission of being a leader in bank technology."

George most recently led the retail architecture function at JPMorgan Chase with responsibility for retail and enterprise strategy definition and alignment. He also supported consumer and business banking in addition to home finance, auto finance, and student lending. He was the chief technology officer for Chase's consumer banking with responsibility for service delivery, application development, maintenance and support for consumer and business banking applications, ATM and debit card processing, consumer risk systems, data warehousing, and the branch operations help desk.

Prior to Chase, George was a partner in financial services/technologies with Accenture (Andersen Consulting), where he supported clients with merger and acquisitions, application re-engineering, application and technical architecture, and performance and capacity planning projects across multiple Fortune 500 companies in the financial services industry.

George has a bachelor's in economics from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
