FieldView Releases New Data Center Management Solution

The FieldView 5.0 product allows for real-time data center power use monitoring at the server level.

FieldView Solutions, an Edison, N.J.-based provider of data center monitoring software, this week announced the release of its FieldView 5.0 data center infrastructure management solution. The enhanced offering is tailored with Microsoft BI tool sets.

Features of the new version include a co-location suite of tools, and an enhanced polling agent through which users can poll one or more locations from any single polling agent instance in the server topology, as well as the ability to designate and configure specific devices as "critical," according to FieldView. Additionally, an open polling interface is available to support structured data access through an open database connection to any compatible database management system.

The 5.0 product also allows users to view a redesigned heat map page, and added a "snapshot" feature for real-time visualizations as well as a new slideshow feature to build automated displays of data center temperature.

According to FieldView, a more granular level of monitoring is also available, as users can monitor power and utilization data at the server level via the Intel DCM 3.0 solution, which the company says can allows them to increase power efficiency by as much as 40 percent.
