Steitz Named CIO for Barclaycard US

Phillip Steitz was appointed chief information officer for Barclaycard US, the credit card business of Barclays PLC in the U.S.

Steitz will oversee the development and management of the firm's Business Technology Group. This includes enterprisewide technology strategy, systems selection and management, information management, application development, implementation of innovations, technology operations, information security, Web services, IT architecture, technology vendor oversight and technical leadership for Barclaycard US.

Prior to this appointment, Steitz served as SVP and CTO for American Express, where he oversaw global technology standards and strategy.
