FINRA Tabs Citi's Randich as New CIO

Steven Randich, currently co-CIO at Citi, will begin his new role at the regulatory body on March 11.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced that it has named Citi's Steven Randich as its new CIO.

Randich currently serves as the co-CIO of Citi, and will begin his new post at the regulatory body on March 11. Randich will oversee technology at FINRA, as well as having responsibility over FINRA's Registration and Disclosure division.

Randich has been with Citi for the past seven years, most recently in the role of CIO and global head of technology for the bank's Institutional Clients Group. Before joining Citigroup, Randich was employed at NASDAQ as EVP, Operations and Technology and CIO.

"Throughout his career, Steve has combined superb leadership and technological skills with strong market and industry knowledge to earn a terrific reputation for working with business clients to identify and respond to priority technology issues," FINRA Chairman and CEO Richard Ketchum said in a statement. "Together, these strengths make Steve ideally qualified to lead our technology team on our many important initiatives."

re: FINRA Tabs Citi's Randich as New CIO
Not sure how much I like the throughway that seems to exist between job posts in the industry and in regulatory bodies. There needs to be industry voices in the regulatory bodies for sure. But it seems like all the important job postings in the regulatory bodies are taken by people who have worked mostly in banking. I think there should be a mix of people with more banking industry experience and people with more legal-government experience.
