CFPB Appoints New COO

Sartaj Alag previously headed the Office of Consumer Response at the agency.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced that it has filled four senior positions, including the appointment of Sartaj Alag as COO.

Alag’s former work with the CFPB included starting up and managing the Office of Consumer Response at the agency. He also previously served as president of Capital One’s Canadian subsidiary.

The other appointments include Christopher D’Angelo as chief of staff, Nora Dowd Eisenhower as assistant director for the office of older Americans, and Laurie Maggiano as the program manager for servicing and securitization markets in the division of research

“Good work starts with great people,” said Richard Cordray, director of the CFPB. “That is why we continue to identify and bring on board experienced individuals who share our passion to reform the consumer financial markets. We are excited to have these talented people join us and work alongside our already stellar staff.”

The CFPB was established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.
