The Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU; Harrisburg, Pa.) is now offering the Trusteer Rapport product to its members. Trusteer (New York; Tel Aviv) is a customer protection company for online businesses. Rapport is being offered as a free download to PSECU's more than 350,000 members as an additional layer of protection for online banking sessions.
Rapport is designed to silently protect personal information entered by users in their Web browser, including usernames, passwords and account numbers, from malicious software that may be hiding on the machine and redirection to look alike Web sites.
This news comes on the heels of a deal last week in which Trusteer revealed it is providing 500,000 Royal Bank of Scotland customers with the Rapport product.
"Protecting members when they conduct business online with us and reducing fraud are two key concerns we wanted to address," said Eric Leighow, director of IT enterprise operations of PSECU, in a statement. "The Rapport product from Trusteer is very easy to install, even for novice computer users, and has virtually no impact on system performance and the customer's user experience with our Web site. Most important, it prevents personal information from being stolen, in a way that complements existing security and anti-virus software present on the machine."
