Community bank locater software applications for Blackberry and Android devices have been launched by the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA, Washington, D.C.). According to ICBA, the new apps will allow consumers to find their local community bank at “the touch of a finger.” ICBA launched applications last year for iPhone and iTouch users.
“ICBA is pleased to offer consumers a convenient way to locate their local community bank from wherever they are right from their mobile device so they can experience the superior customer service, trustworthy expertise and quality financial service products offered by our nation’s nearly 8,000 community banks,” said Chris Lorence, ICBA senior vice president of marketing, in a press release. As with the iPhone and iTouch applications, the Blackberry and Android applications are free. In addition to finding a local community bank, the application will work with the devices’ GPS navigation system to provide precise directions to a selected bank. Most community bank websites are “clickable,” and the application includes addresses and contact information.
