Banco Santander to Replace 670 ATMs

Largest bank in Europe to roll out a fleet of Diebold Opteva machines.

High-tech banking giant Banco Santander has tapped Diebold to replace more than 670 of the its automated teller machines. The new Opteva ATMs will run Diebold's Agilis software. Deployment will continue during the next few months and will be complete in the first half of 2011.

According to Diebold, Banco Santander chose the ATM manufacturer for its service quality. Banco Santander and Diebold are also currently working together in other countries such as Mexico, Brazil and the United States.

Earlier this month, another top Spanish bank, BBVA, announced plans to install 200 custom-designed NCR Abil ATMs this year in Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Bilbao and other cities.
