4 Technologies That Are Key to the Bank Branch of the Future

What will become of the branch in the bank of the future? Will it even exist in? Will it become more of a sales and service center, as some have predicted? Whatever happens, the bank branch will likely look vastly different in the future. Accenture Technology Labs, the technology research and development organization within Accenture, offers some of its ideas on this subject at an ongoing bank of the future showcase for its banking clients in Sophia Antipolis, France. Here are some of the highlights.

While there has been some branch rationalization this year, it appears that banks are continuing to invest in their branches. The number of branches in the U.S. decreased by less than 1% in 2012, to 97,327 from 98,294 in 2011, according to the FDIC. But branches are going to have to offer the same kind of interactive, customized and real-time experience that customers get on the booming digital channels.
